Our February meeting topic is "Next Steps after Homeschool & Financial Aid for College."

Our first guest speaker is Diane Cullen. She is a homeschool veteran and mother of five. Four of her children have completed college and launched into their careers, the fifth is currently in college. She has taught Career Decision Making for 17 years, was the Truth Advocates Speech and Debate Team leader for 9 years, and is a teacher and board member for Cornerstone Classical School. 

Her topic will be, “Next Steps after Homeschool”. Whether your student is college bound, leaning toward technical training, or completely unsure where they’re headed, Diane will give us tools to assist them in this important decision-making process. And lest you think that your children are too young for any of this to apply to you yet, she will also be sharing ideas we can implement now with our younger students, to aid them in planning for their future.

Our second guest speaker is Dominic Schillizzi. He and his wife Lara are Heart’n’Home members and parents to four homeschooling students. Dominic has been in the Financial Aid industry for 14 years. He has assisted students with the verification of FAFSA data. He has worked at for-profit and non-profit private, and non-profit public institutions. He is currently employed as a Financial Aid Specialist at IUS. 

Dominic will speak about, “Financial Aid for College”. He will help us understand what the FAFSA is, how to file, common mistakes to avoid, and how to research scholarships.

Children are welcome to bring a quiet activity they can do while seated with you. Your older students may find the information shared to be interesting and helpful to them. 

Coffee will be available and you are welcome to bring a snack to share.
